Have you ever tried to hold a thermometer in a young child’s mouth. You find yourself constantly insisting that it needs to be tucked under their tongue, then you wait for the thermometer to beep to tell you it is done, and you discover that it wasn’t able to get a reading and you need to do it all over again. No parent wants to deal with that when they are trying to take care of their sick child.
I found the Braun No touch + forehead thermometer to be extremely easy to use. It comes in an easy to open packaging with batteries included, and can be used immediately without any setup. I did have to spend some time taking practice temperatures. I found out that Micah runs a little warmer than Maeby and Abram do, and that I need to take that into account when I suspect he might be running a fever. We got a few crazy readings, but it was quickly remedied by pushing his bangs off of his forehead.
